Hassan Nasrallah says the Lebanese are committed to the “balance of army, people and Resistance.” This is yet another serving of hot air. The reality is that Hezbollah is always out of balance in a country that is supposedly founded on consensual dealings.

He quashed rumors, clarified misconceptions and must be credited for setting the record straight, while maintaining the judicial and investigative integrity of his mission.

Loyalty to the Resistance bloc MP Ali Moqdad told OTV on Friday that Hezbollah’s arms are “legitimate and necessary to prevent treason in Lebanon.” He also said they must be “maintained across the Lebanese territory.” Since when did the rules of the game change?

Hassan Nasrallah clearly thinks that it is not enough for Lebanon to be facing international approbation because of his private army. Now he proposes building a nuclear power plant in Israel’s backyard. Is Hezbollah’s secretary general serious or simply running out of ideas?

We should be happy the MV Mariam did not sail. Now the Lebanese authorities, who were quite happy to allow the mission to take place, must take all steps to ensure that this reckless and politically-motivated project is called off once and for all.

With his threats that his opponents will end up in car trunks, the nation must surely be growing tired of the Wiam Wahhab show. The former minister has overstepped the mark, and now is the time to pull the plug on Damascus’ man in Beirut.
