IEEE Lebanon Section and Rethinking Lebanon Partner to Foster Youth Empowerment and Technological Innovation


Beirut, Lebanon – December 20, 2024 –

IEEE Lebanon Section and Rethinking Lebanon have announced a groundbreaking partnership through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed on December 20, 2024. The agreement marks a significant milestone in efforts to empower Lebanese youth and drive innovation and collaboration in Lebanon’s socio-economic development. The MoU formalizes a strategic alliance between the two organizations, combining IEEE Lebanon Section’s expertise in capacity building, scientific research and technological advancement with Rethinking Lebanon’s mission to reshape the nation’s future through empowering youth.

The partnership aims to leverage technology and education to create opportunities that enhance Lebanon’s global competitiveness.

Key Objectives of the Partnership:

1. Youth Engagement and Development: – Launching mentorship programs, hackathons, and collaborative challenges to inspire the next generation of Lebanese leaders.

2. Joint Research and Policy Advocacy: – Conducting studies on the integration of cutting-edge technology into Lebanon’s economic development and governance. – Publishing reports and policy recommendations to support sustainable development.

3. Innovative Projects and Events: – Hosting forums, conferences, and workshops focusing on technological innovation, such as Smart Cities and digital transformation. – Developing educational content and providing technical sponsorships.

4.Community Development: – Offering platforms to connect IEEE members with policymakers, industry leaders, and global experts to foster impactful collaborations.

Dr. Hadi Kanaan, Chair of IEEE Lebanon Section, Vice-President Elect for Workshop Activities of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society (IES), and Director of the Doctoral School of Science, Engineering and Technology at Saint-Joseph University of Beirut, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, stating that this partnership aligns perfectly with our mission to advance technology for humanity. By working with Rethinking Lebanon, we can create impactful programs and scientific events that inspire innovation and growth among Lebanese youth. Dr. Jihad El Hokayem, President of Rethinking Lebanon, highlighted the shared vision of both organizations: Together, we aim to empower the youth, rethink Lebanon’s potential, and showcase the country’s role on the international stage.
